Meet the Team: Stories from Behind the Counter at Airport Blvd & Round Rock

Creating a company with decadent confections that has been around for 140 years is no easy task. It took many years, setbacks, tears, laughter, and amazing memories. A main part of those memories is our wonderful candy team that works behind the counter at our stores on Airport Road in Austin and at Round Rock. Our team members are like family to us, so we wanted to give an opportunity for our customers to “Meet the Team” with Lammes candy team stories that keeps us running strong everyday. We asked our 4 incredible staff members a few questions to get to know them better as well as their favorite Lammes Candy. 

Meet the Team Behind the Counter:

Holly has been behind the counter at Lammes for the longest with a total of 8 years coming this October. She is a true Austinite, born and raised here. Holly got the opportunity to work at Lammes through her friend Pam, who suggested she would be a great fit at Lammes Candies as a member of the retail staff team. 

Q: What is your favorite thing about working at Lammes Candies?  

A: Talking with customers & making the store feel like a candy store

Q: What is your favorite candy at Lammes?  

A: Almond crunch, dark chocolate covered grapes and so much more but there’s just not enough room. 

Q: What is the best thing about interacting with customers at Lammes Candies? 

A: I feel like I know my frequent customers fairly well, I think people that routinely buy great Candy as gifts are very thoughtful and just a pleasure to talk to

Q: What is something you would like customers to know about your or about your work?

A: I take pride in a tidy and clean store. It's a wonderful feeling when people can’t help but smile and comment on how great the store looks and smells. Best of all is the kids' first time in a candy store and that is fun!

Chelsea has been with Lammes for almost 4 years now after she came across an advertisement on Indeed. Chelsea says, “I found out there was a location really close to my house, so I stopped by and asked for an application. A week later, I started my first job and I’ve been here ever since.” Home for Chelsea is wherever her family is because she always feels safe and well supported by her family. 

Q: What is your favorite thing about working at Lammes Candies? 

A: Eating the candies and seeing the smile on customers’ faces as they walk in. 

Q: What is your favorite candy at Lammes? 

A: My favorites change frequently. Although recently, it’s been the Almond Crunch Bark, since the bark was the first thing I tried when I started working here.

Q: What is the best thing about interacting with customers at Lammes Candies? 

A: I like helping customers pick out the perfect gift for someone special. I also enjoy customers telling me stories from their childhood about Lammes and how nostalgic it makes them feel. 

Q: What is something you would like customers to know about your or about your work?

A: Coming to Lammes is an experience that everyone should have at least once in their lives, so I always try my hardest to make them feel appreciated and well deserved to be here.

Siri has been with Lammes for about 3 years now and found the opportunity when she was looking for a job her senior year of high school. Her mom suggested she apply to Lammes and she has been a team member ever since. Home for Siri is Round Rock where she has grown up and lived her whole life. 

Q: What is your favorite thing about working at Lammes Candies?  

A: I admire the company of my coworkers. They’re really kind.

Q: What is your favorite candy at Lammes? 

A:  It’s hard to choose a singular favorite candy out of all the selections. But I love our Peanut Butter Squares, Almond Crunch Bark, and Pecan 1885’s.

Q: What is the best thing about interacting with customers at Lammes Candies? 

A: The best thing about interacting with my customers is hearing their stories and what brought them to Lammes. From getting candy for themselves out of nostalgia. Or even sending gifts across the sea for loved ones.

Q: What is something you would like customers to know about your or about your work?  

A: I’d like my customers to know they can ask for help with whatever they’re searching for in the store and I’d be happy to help!

Mason has been with Lammes since March of 2021 after they volunteered helping the store out on Valentine’s Day. Home is between Oahu, Hawaii and Liberty Hill Texas. 

Q: What is your favorite thing about working at Lammes Candies? 

A: My favorite thing about working at Lammes is that it’s a small business and feels like I can make more of a difference.

Q: What is your favorite candy at Lammes? 

A: My favorite candy is the Dark chocolate sea salt caramels.

Q: What is the best thing about interacting with customers at Lammes Candies? 

A: Getting to know them more and sometimes even becoming friends with them. 

Q: What is something you would like customers to know about your or about your work? 

A: That we really try to make everyone happy.

Our Lammes candy team stories remind us that behind every sweet tradition are the people who bring it to life. Our team is what makes Lammes Candies the company we are today and we wouldn’t have made it 140 years without incredible members like Siri, Holly, Mason, and Chelsea.
