A Legacy of Family, Flavor, and Tradition

When Lammes Candies was founded back in 1885, a great deal of consideration and thought went into what kind of candy company we aspired to be. One focused on providing excellent confections, quality customer service, and helping to create long lasting memories for our customers through our confections. We wanted to create an atmosphere where the people we worked with in our stores, our candy kitchen, as well as our main office felt like family and we wanted our customers to have that familial feeling too. We have worked diligently over the years to honor the Lammes Candies values that shaped our legacy, and we remain committed to supporting our employees and our community.

To truly understand what makes our candy company feel like family,  we thought it would be best to ask our team members directly. We talked to several team members from various departments to find out what Lammes Candies means to them, and what treats top their list of our team’s favorite Lammes Candies. 

“Being from Austin, Lammes has always been a part of my life, so to me it’s a part of my culture. “Keep Austin Weird”, what better way to support local business than to work for a company that has been here for 140 years. My favorite Lammes Candy would have to be the Texas Chewie Pecan Pralines.” 

“Lammes Candies to me is more than just candy, they’re comfort and Texas pride. They hold a special place in my heart as a sweet reminder of home and tradition. My go to Lammes Candy is hands down the Texas Chewie Pecan Pralines.” 

“As a native Texan from Big Spring, Texas, I have a deep love and sense of pride for anything associated with Texas. I have a deep respect for any company that can stand the test of time and overcome challenges for 140 years. I take pride in being able to come in as IT Operations and help this company with any technology needs to hopefully operate for another 3 generations. My favorite candy is the ‘Texas Longhorns’ because I just have never had any other ‘Longhorn’ or ‘Turtle’ that can beat the flavor combination of the chocolate, caramel, and pecans. There must be an extra ingredient in there…. ‘Tradition’!”

“Working for Lammes is like working for family, I never feel like I’m actually going to work.  A couple of my personal favorites from the store are the Krispy Klaw (Caramel and Rice Crispies covered in Milk Chocolate) and Almond Crunch ( English toffee and almonds covered in Milk Chocolate).”

Staying true to the Lammes Candies values is what sets us apart from other candy companies and we are proud of the legacy that we have built over 140 years here at Lammes. Regardless of how long our team members have worked at Lammes, whether it be less than a year or almost 12 years, we continue to support each and everyone of them and are looking forward to creating memories for the next 140 years and beyond with our team and our amazing customers who all feel like family to us.
